Home Additions

More space without moving. Additions carry work a remodel does not — tying new foundation into old, matching rooflines and siding so it does not look bolted on, and structural engineering. We handle all of it.

  • Bedroom & bathroom additions
  • Second-story additions
  • In-law suites & ADUs
  • Garage conversions
  • Sunrooms & screened porches

What a Renovation With Apex Looks Like

Renovating a home you are living in is a different job from building on an empty lot. Here is how we keep it manageable.

01

Walkthrough

We come to you, look at the space, and talk through what you want to change. Free, with no obligation attached to it.

02

Scope & Written Proposal

You get an itemized proposal covering the work, the materials and the schedule — not a number quoted at you across a kitchen counter.

03

Selections & Permitting

We help you choose finishes and fixtures inside the budget you set, and pull every permit the work requires.

04

Build

Work areas sealed off, floors and walkways protected, site swept at the end of each day. You get a weekly update on progress — including anything we find once the walls are open.

05

Punch List & Walkthrough

We walk the finished space with you and write down anything that is not right. It is not done until that list is empty.

Frequently Asked Questions

A cosmetic refresh — new countertops, appliances, hardware, paint — typically runs 3–5 weeks. A full gut renovation that moves plumbing or electrical and changes the layout typically runs 8–14 weeks. Custom cabinetry lead times are usually the longest single item.

Bathrooms vary more than almost any other room. The main factors:

  • Whether plumbing moves. Keeping fixtures where they are is dramatically cheaper than relocating them.
  • Tile scope. A tub surround versus a full floor-to-ceiling wet room is a large difference in both material and labor.
  • Shower type. A prefabricated unit, a tiled shower, and a zero-entry curbless shower are three different jobs.
  • Vanity and fixtures. Stock through fully custom.
  • What is behind the walls. Older homes often reveal water damage or out-of-code wiring once opened up.

We walk your bathroom, tell you what we find, and put a written number against it.

Yes. Additions involve work a straightforward remodel does not — tying a new foundation into the existing one, matching rooflines and siding so the addition does not look bolted on, structural engineering, and a more involved permitting process. We handle all of it.

Usually yes, depending on scope. We seal off work areas to control dust, protect floors and walkways, keep the site clean at the end of each day, and agree on working hours with you up front. For a whole-home gut renovation, moving out is generally easier on everyone.

Yes. We handle all permitting and inspections for your project, including the drawings and documentation each county requires and any HOA submittals. Coordinating inspections at each stage is part of the job — it is not something we hand back to you.

We build throughout New Hanover County, Brunswick County, Pender County and Onslow County. If your lot sits just outside that area, ask anyway — we will tell you honestly whether we are the right builder for it.
